Retrospective of my LEGO Technic works in 2025, with regular creations, commissioned projects, and personal thought.
What happened in 2025 ?
Regular Creations
This year, I did only 4 new creations, but published 8 instructions for old creations, which 3 are free. I started the year with the release of the red version of the Honda CRX Del-Sol, as I have some requests. Then I published the 30ft Workboat which was a 2022 commission, and the Oreca 07 too in Buildamoc Exclusive products, which I am very proud of it as the result is gorgeous !

The first 2025 original creation was the 6×6 Offroad Creation which I developed for a long time (started in 2024) as a mix of many advanced techniques to create an effective 1/20 offroad truck. It also confirmed my will of having removal elements for playability, as well as multiple instructions for a single creation depending of the electronics uses, which enables me to make live the creation without being dependent of LEGO electronics. I also documented a lot the design process, and produce a design secrets video which received a great feedback. I use the LesDIY kit to show how it works and it was appreciated.
After that, I work on creations for the Buwizz Gathering which took place in Slovenia in July 2025. That was the first time since years I participated to an event and I was waited ! We take some holidays to visit Slovenia and intend to BuWizz event.

For that, I designed the Rally Car V3 which was based on shrinked rally car V2 with completely new chassis. It performed well despite an electronic shut-down problem, and finished 9th/12. The Werner Uniknick finished too the Trial Truck Competition but was waaaay to slow compared to the contestant’s beast which were equipped with BuWizz motor and BuWizz 3.0, so finished 11th on 14.

Regarding the event, I was interviewed which was a pretty stressful experience with my Frenchy accent, but it was fine, and everyone was nice to me ! The place was really nice with lovely wood house, evening barbecue, river to swim and you guess : long LEGO discussions ! One shadow to this event : I was completely sick after and spent the rest of the holiday in bed with fever ! So except some places we visited before (cave, park, mountains) I did not see much Slovenia ! So yes, we plan to come back this year in 2026 and visit what I have missed.

The rest for the year was devoted to clean my backlog of instructions rework, including the Berliet T100 in Buwizz version, Sbrick being discontinuited. But also the Honda S2000 in Black, a Wheel Loader I designed in 2007, the Integraph, and a GBC module. I also issued some free instructions, with a small engine collection from car and trucks, and a new 11l stud motorized axle for my upcoming Berliet GBC8, with the use of new suspensions arms.
I usually rework the instructions when there are errors to correct or a specific demand for color swapping or commission attached. But for the Berliet T100 and 11-l Axle, they were built for museum visit and exhibition. Indeed, I was invited to visit the private collection of Berliet Truck in France near Lyon, from people who helped me gathering the document I needed for recreating the T100 in LEGO in 2021. So I bring it and take a picture with the real monster !

It was the occasion to visit the collection which was very interesting, I took a lot of picture and bring a lot of idea for my endless list of projects !
The second event was a French Truck Exhibition near Vichy in France, organized by the AVAIA, an association of old industrial and agricultural vehicles. Where an office member who ordered me a commission invited me to exhibit some models. So I took what I have in stock (Citroen and Formula one), rebuilt some old models, and designed specific one, such as prototype of Berliet GBC8, a Volvo inspired truck, and the US Heavy Duty Truck that I released officially in 2026.

It was the first time I have my own stand, so I worked on the marketing material with a video on TV, black background, small posters, and printed portfolio. The feedback was good, despite the fact I had to explain often that I have created all what was display, and that it was not just official LEGO Kits. I think this is due that most of the LEGO exhibitions features LEGO sets or creations from other people. Anyway, the AVAIA collection of vehicle and the kindness of people made me decide to give some time to the association so I am now an official member, and work actively to propose a didactic LEGO stand for people to play and a real truck simulator for the next year !
At the end of the year, I released the Werner Uniknick, which had a great success in Unimog fanbase, so I plan to make a proper Unimog with new chassis by reusing the cab. I have also improved my website, with a clearer guide to buy my creations, and reinforced the collaboration with LesDIY. More and more creations of mine are proposed there, and now integrated on my website with the prices. The idea is to present all the possibilities on each product pages in the most comprehensive way (PDF Instructions, Genuine LEGO parts Kits, Chinese Parts Kits).

Commissioned projects for particulars and companies
I built 3 commissioned projects this year, plus a modification of an existing build (a white 2-axle Mobile Stage Trailer), and the final release of a project with Honda started in 2020 ! This project is called “Voyage en Zone Rouge 2” designed by Lionel Lucas, director of RedRunner Edition, a French book editor. It was a high end collector kit, composed of best of French craftsmanship, 336-page book, Plexiglas displayed stand with engraved and numerated plate, and 2x 1/14 Genuine LEGO parts Formula One designed by me with complete sticker liveries.
The kit was produced to 60 units, where most of them has been sold, including some to the Honda headquarter in Japan ! It was the final outcome of 5 years of work, designing and redesigning the LEGO Formula One, stickers, the stand, and the details to find the perfect limited edition collector kit for Honda Fans. So thanks to Lionel Lucas, Redrunner Director, Yannick Bourgoing, Graphic Designer, and Honda France for their trust !
The first commissioned project was a 1/2 scale Pipe Inspection Robot, measuring 60cm long, with motorized functions using a BuWizz. The 8 propellers are powered, and the internal core can be removed from the black cage. The difficulty here was the integration of all the electronic and gears inside the core, as well as the exterior shape. Fun fact, this model is equipped with omniwheels from Robot Shop as real.

The second massive commissioned project was for EDF, the biggest French electricity producer, so that was quite an achievement to work for them ! The model is a 64cm wide replica of a turbo generator concept. The machine is motorized by multiple motors with different gearboxes and differentials, and is instrumented using divers sensors, while the rotor drives different motors in generator mode. It is used in fundamental research to develop a Digital Twin, by simulating and studying the machine in different functioning scenario (mechanically, electrically, vibrating) which are controlled mechanically by the colored levers.

The last commission was quite unusual, a military engineering vehicle, for an office member of the AVAIA for a private museum : a replica of an Armoured Digger. A sort of mix between a backhoe loader and a tank. It has 4 motorized functions such as the drive, turntable rotation, and onboard compressor, and is remote controlled using Chinese battery and controller. The front and side arms are moved by pneumatic cylinders (8!), which also include an openable shovel. The switches are located on the remote, so it is half remote, half wired vehicle.

Building at 1/25 scale for 1204 parts, it was hard to put all the functions (and hoses!) inside the model while keeping all range of motion. I even put some other functions like openable hatches and torsion bar suspensions. I am not specifically fan of military equipment, but more about engineering and mechanisms in all kind so it was a very pleasant model to build, and make me discovering the French association AVAIA.

What to conclude ?
This year was placed under the sign of social events : BuWizz Gathering, Berliet Museum Visit, AVAIA exhibition, which was the occasion to meet great people, and design LEGO models specifically for these events. It added temporal and requirement constraints, which was refreshing and motivating for creating. But was difficult to handle after the building, marketing speaking, as there were many instructions and video editing to do, sometimes months after the building, so the motivation was not always here !
Consequently, I did not issue so much new creation, but I am proud of the 6×6 offroad truck which took many time to complete. Like the Nissan Skyline I did, this is a creation I want to keep built, to show what I am capable and to demonstrate functions, how it is built and how it is playable. It acts as a milestone in my LEGO activity. This was one of my focus this year : the playability and the building experience. Because I see many good looking creations on social media, but these two elements are sometime neglected. For sure the great looking catches people, but good experience and playability make them stay, enjoy and come back.
For playability, I pay attention to how I design the different functions, how I place the different controls, their shape, color, range of motion, weight placement, build sturdyness. It leads to many rework to get the perfect build but it make the difference for me. For instance to have a hand of god placed correctly, or which uses the full motion of the steering, have stable axles, responsive suspensions etc. Devils in the details as we say, but not only in the design, but functionality wise (Hi the 42082 Model D with its poor battery box part of the chassis…)
I also propose now different versions for a single creation : manual or motorized, because not all people can afford expensive LEGO motors, or Buwizz, so I want to propose manual version or with Chinese electronics. The manual version is not just the same without motor but are reworked version with steering control, alternate design, sometime other functions to compensate. The idea is to keep the same playability with or without motor. It is also usually design now as a whole, with taking into consideration the multiple version at the beginning of the design process, in order the model is upgradable with motor, as LEGO did some years ago. So you can build the manual version, then add motors when you want without breaking all the model.
For the building experience, this is also an underestimate thing in LEGO Technic Creation. If the building is frustrating, or making no sense, people will dislike it, which will affect the reception even if the model is great on a shelve. The aim of the building experience is to be fun, sometime relaxing, sometime challenging and if possible with something to learn (building technique, or engineering skills). That is why I try to think my model, built in removable sub-assembly which makes sense as real. For instance the different parts of chassis, merged together, then adding the axles, with the drivetrain and engine, and as possible adding the wheels. So the builders can play with the unfinished model, see how it works, understand the functioning and learn how it is built with the purpose of the different elements. Then I add the bodywork, and if some elements can be easily removable, it is even better to show the internal mechanism.
I have built several models this year, which includes model from other builders, and some model in Chinese bricks. So I know that the experience can be frustrating, when things are unclear, parts difficult to assemble or functions difficult to operate or understand (even for some of my models, I am not perfect). This is not the experience I want for my model, especially because I propose more and more complete kits with genuine or alternative bricks, which is not always bought by people expert in LEGO building.
As I found my building style some years ago, I think this is the logic step for me to focus now on playability, building experience, and have a meaningful impact on people, not only create nice thing for shelves. I am a very curious person, so my goal is always to progress, learn, experiment and share. So if I can inspire people, entertain, help understand how things works and why not become builder or engineer, It will make my day !
