First of all : I invit you to read the wikipedia Article about the 2CV, It is well written and very instructive.

Building a replica of a 2CV was an aim for a Loooooonnng time ! As a french lover of old french cars, the 2CV was an obvious choice for lego creations, with Renault 4L, Facel Vega, Citroen DS id and so on. I have started this project 3 years ago, by building and re-building the frame and trying to build the bodywork. I have always failed to create the particular shape. And, one day, I came up with more solutions, more ideas and then I have tried, an re-tried and finally, the first 2Cv in lego studless was born.

I have started to build the bodywork, it was the most difficult part to obtain, because of this particular shape, mixing angular and smooth surfaces. I have chosen the Charleston Color Scheme because I had not enough material to make the 2CV in one color : red or black. Of course, on real car, the Red is a Dark Red color, but not available in lego studless.

DSCF3704

Since the beginning of the project, I wanted to make the frame of the 2cv as faithful as possible to the real car, including the trailing arms, suspensions in the floor, engine and gearbox with lever in the interior, removable seats and rear bench. Therefore, the engine with the gearbox are mounted on the front with the lever which is placed in the interior and moves in the same way as on the real car.

The suspensions use trailing arm with caster angle on the front and connecting rod for putting action on the shock absorbers located in the floor. I have placed also a shock absorbers directly on the trailing arms, with help to support the weight. The other modification I have made is to put a connecting rod between the two front trailing arms in order to prevent excessive camber angle. Concerning the steering, of course the steering wheel works and there is a HOG with tripod quick coupling for the removable bodywork.

DSCF3710

The coupling between front and rear suspensions from the same side is functional thanks to a rubber band which connects the two suspensions on the same side. When the front suspensions is moved, it moves the shock absorbers which then pulls on the rubber band. The rubber band being connected to the rear suspension, the rear suspensions is stiffen.

Then, I have built the rest of the car including interior and adjustable headlights. The headlights are located on the bodywork, and when the bodywork is assembled with the frame, the 8-tooth gear placed on the headlight axle comes on the worm screw placed in the chassis. Then, it is possible to adjust from the interior. The seats and rear bench are easily removable because there are fixed only by friction axle in connector as shown on the picture.

Concerning the bodywork, I have built in one part, in order to remove from the chassis easily that is why the bodywork includes inside some strong lining. Of course, everything can be opened, including bonnet, doors and spring lock trunk.

[…] fallible, and sometimes forget just how good some of these builders are. Then I see something like this Citroën 2CV made of studless Legos and it’s like getting slapped in the face with a bag of clanky, pointy […]

    Hi,

First of all, it’s a very nice and beautifull model! Good work.
I made it myself, and discovered a problem with the steering and
front suspention. Acctually, i think the front axles are too long.
When you put the front down, the wheels are getting a very strange stand.
Do you know the problem, or more important do you have an solution?

    Greeting from holland

Bonjour j aimerai acheter le kit complet 2 ch + instruction de montage ,est ce possible ? Si oui comment procéder et qu’elle est l ordre de prix ,merci cordialement

Hello, if the bill of material is not completed on the zip instructions, the rebrickable bill is ! Bye.

Hallo Nico!! Your 2cv is incredibile! I would like to build my one with your instructions .. i ve looked the Bill of material but it seems not to contain the whole 2200 piecies.. for exemple the wheels aren t in the Bill.. is there a complete list? Thank you very much for creating such a great reproduction ofnone of the most beutiful Cars ever built!
    Marco

Hi, this Citroën 2CV is wonderfull! I’ve built the 1st part now, later the 2nd part.
But would you perhaps consider tyo built/create a 2nd part as DS for this chassis?
Perhaps, it would fit as well, would be great.
    Keep on creating!

J’avoue !

    Cordialement

Do you have a partslist ?

    Greetings from Holland.

There are building instructions at the end of the post, I know that this is not veru freiendly user but It is enough to rebuild it. Regards.

This is the first and only Technic thing that I’d love to own! It’s absolutley fantastic! As an owner of a real “duck”, I’m sitting here with with a grin on my face like a kid on christmas eve.

    Hello,
My dad is a huge fan of Citroën. Do you have an step to step tutorial? So if yes, can you publish it or e-mail it to me ? 🙂

    Greets

Nicolas, you build a great model. Well done! you could consider uploading your pictures to Lego Cuusoo. If you reach 10.000 supporters Lego will consider to make the 2CV a cuusoo set. For more info: http://lego.cuusoo.com/
